As you visit its various places, pages and information centres, I believe you will discover something striking that our board, staff and students already know - that CIDA is a remarkable place, an extraordinary place of learning, and an Institution of Higher Learning with a difference. Why, you may ask, is it different, and what makes it so remarkable? The difference comes in the fact that CIDA offers marginalised students from historically-disadvantaged backgrounds, an opportunity to get a fully-accredited, high quality university education. It comes in the fact that this education is virtually free, thanks to the involvement, sponsorship and generosity of socially responsive corporates and individuals. Then there is the fact that, along the way, these students learn the highest possible human values while experiencing, in a practical way, the importance of putting back something of value into the communities from which they come. Perhaps, most of all, its because right here, these young women and men are able to realise their hopes and dreams within a nurturing, stimulating environment. The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree offered at CIDA instils in these young people a culture of learning and helping others, and offers them empowerment through future employment opportunities and personal success. CIDA is a true example of partnerships. Since its inception in 2000, we have worked closely with our various partners who have availed to us their expertise and provided immense support to our endeavours. The results have been remarkable. Right now, the majority of our students at CIDA are sponsored for their tuition, food and accommodation on campus as well as study materials. I hope that, as you explore our website, you will recognise for yourself just how important this initiative is against the background of a future South Africa and what an impact it is having - and will continue to have - on factors that affect each one of us, such as poverty alleviation, crime, and unemployment. Thank you for visiting our CIDA website. Should you have any questions or comments with regard to the information you will find on this website, please do not hesitate to contact us at CIDA on +27(0)11 887-4495.
